Our Year 8 boys football team kicked off the season with a wining start after a 4-3 victory over a strong King Edwards side.

A fast start from The Friary saw us take an early two goal lead through goals from Jimmy Daniels and Noah Malpass.

The Friary continued to control the first half and added to the scoreline through goals from Roman Lamey and another from Noah Malpass.

As the game went on, King Edwards grew into the match and scored some great goals. It could have been more but 3 great saves from Jack Holt (Our goalkeeper stepping up from Year 7) kept the team in front.

Equally, the King Edwards goalkeeper came with huge plaudits too after 2 phenomenal saves late on to keep the score at 4-3.

Jamie Sleigh, team coach, said: “A great end-to-end game, played in great spirits and refereed fantastically by Year 10 student, Luke Aldridge, who refs outside of school as well. The player of the match was awarded to Gabriel Clarke who was non-stop down the left side, comfortable on the ball and strong in defence. Overall though it was a fantastic all round performance.”
