Year 7 enjoyed an educational and entertaining History trip to Warwick Castle.
The trip, which is designed to supplement students upcoming work on William the Conqueror and their Castes HLA, involved climbing the battlements as well as a visit to the old jail.
Students were also able to walk up the old-style motte and bailey castle and examine defensive features of the castle including the moat and the portcullis.
They also watched the bird show featuring the huge condor as well as a demonstration by the bowman.
Liam Rivers-Boyce, Head of History, said: “Amidst a great day, the biggest achievement was perhaps defying the weather forecast and managing to avoid the rain! Our new Year 7 students received many compliments on their behaviour and enthusiasm around the castle and we are looking forward to using what we have learnt on the trip to the classroom.”
Matt Allman, Headteacher, added: “This is the opening trip for our new Year 7s on what will be a series of adventures in their time with us. This year we have a European skiing trip, volcanoes in Iceland, safari in Eswatini, climbing to Notre Dame in Paris, the sailing the canals of Amsterdam, the hills of the Peak District, and the rolling fields of Normandy. Our school is about bringing success but also opening eyes and having fun and our Year 7s have got off to a brilliant start.”
