In an exciting tournament hosted by Lichfield Hockey Club, the Friary U14 boys pushed off against Queen Mary’s Grammar School.

Arriving early provided the Friary team with a valuable opportunity to warm up and hone their skills, but it was Queen Mary who came out of the gates strong, scoring several early goals that put the Friary boys on the back foot.

Despite the challenging start, it was a thrilling moment for Friary as Kian Edwards made a triumphant return to the hockey pitch, netting an impressive four goals throughout the match. His performance was a stand-out highlight for the team. Newcomer Zak Radbourne also made his mark, contributing with an assist that helped his teammates find the back of the net.

Kim Fallows, Head Coach, reflected on the match, stating, “It was nice to see the teams working together, but we still have work to do regarding our defensive skills, and that’s something we will focus on in training.”

Looking ahead, the team will take a well-deserved rest next week before gearing up for the Year 7s’ first tournament on 8 October. With the promise of improvement and more teamwork, the Friary U14 boys are eager to build on this experience.
