Amelia Long (Y12) is bravely doing a skydive on 13 October to raise money for breast cancer in memory of her auntie and nanny who unfortunately passed away due to breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Now report that breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK with 1 woman diagnosed every 10 minutes. This is our mothers, our partners, our children and stopping this disease is something we should all seek to help with.
This results in around 55,000 women and 400 men being diagnosed with breast cancer ever year – and this does not include a further 7,000 people diagnosed with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in sit), an early form of breast cancer, each year.
Indeed, 1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer on their lifetime.
You can donate to support Amelia and her fund-raising mission by visiting her Just Giving page which can be accessed by clicking on the link here.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “Amelia is a wonderful student at school and this venture only shows her drive, determination and commitment to everything she does. Nearly 1 in 2 people in the UK will develop cancer at some point in their lifetime and this only reminds us why we should support Amelia’s skydive is for all of us. We would urge every one to give all they can to support Amelia’s fund-raising.”
