We stage a weekly House Current Affairs Quiz which is deigned to keep our student abreast of the news of the day but also to branch out into wider themes connected to our Focus Weeks and the world around us.
There are a total of 20 questions – 10 related to the week’s Focus Week and 10 on the news that week.
The competition is tracked on a weekly basis and Seward House rode out as winners at the end of the school year:
1st Place – Seward – 6,315 points
2nd Place – Garrick – 6,112 points
3rd Place – Darwin – 5,998 points
4th Place – Johnson – 5,943 points
Within this we keep an eye on the best performing tutor groups in each House and they came out as:
1st Place – 10G2 – Garrick – 636 points
2nd Place – 9S1 – Seward – 599 points
3rd Place – 10D2 – Darwin – 590 points

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “We regularly see the issues around the world with ‘fake news’ and we are always intent in helping our students to stay informed and ware of all that is going on around them. The skill of sifting the fact from the fiction is a critical life skill – whether in social media chat or global politics – and we take our role very seriously in prepping our students to deal successfully with all levels of misinformation and reporting.”
