Each year we see a common pattern when it comes to exam results – the more a student attends school, the better they statically do in their exams.

Consequently, we place a great emphasis on school attendance and seek to reward those who hit the mark day-in-day-out , as well as those who have an absence but then manage to improve their rates so that they are back on track.

To this end, each term we stage Attendance Rewards Events. These events draw lots to reward those on 95%+ each term and also set targets for specific children who have had absences – which could be for a serious illness or home satiation – but then improve over a targeted period. This means that all students have the chance to access this reward.

Our most recent Attendance Rewards Event was an archery experience and we worked with Lichfield Archers to give student an opportunity to try out the sport and then to potentially take it forward with tis local community sports body. Lichfield Arches were excellent in their provision and we would wholeheartedly recommend students taking up the sport.

Richard Barnett-Richards. Assistant Headteacher, said: “We were delighted to work alongside Lichfield Archers on this reward event which celebrated those with excellent or significantly approved school attendance. There is no doubt that coming through the school doors each day is intrinsically connected to academic success and in opening up opportunities in post-school life. The students thoroughly enjoyed their archery and we’ll have more exciting rewards next school year.”
