Our annual Summer Sizzler become the Summer Drizzler as the rains tumbled down but with our musicians and dancers determined to perform, there were lots of parents pressed into attending despite the downpours.

There were a succession of acts – many playing before taking the stage at Lichfield Fuse Festival – whilst our dancers were out in force too – with many taking part in events at Tamworth Castle as soon as break up.

Equally, former students came back to get in on the act, new Year 7s made their first steps onto stage, and the staff band rocked out too. Despite the weather it was a great success.

Elsewhere, there were stalls, bouncy castles and fund-raising projects led by student teams.

Our wonderful PTFA were out in force with food and drink stalls doing a roaring trade against all the odds.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “All the plaudits go to the student and families who stuck by the school and turned out. With my parent eyes I saw that the relentless rain was not going to be great, and I am not sure I would have shown the grit and patience that so many Mum, Dads and grandparents did, but knowing the hours and hours that have gone into the dance and music lessons there was no way the crowd would not turn up. Even so, it was truly incredible. We are very grateful to everyone who made the event worthwhile – if you build a Summer Sizzler they will come!”
