This week, students have been learning about Josephine Baker as part of their ‘World Heroines Focus Week’.
For their Independent Learning Competition preparation, KS3 students had to research and revise factual information about Josephine Baker, before pitting their knowledge against other KS3 teams in order to win valuable points for their House.
Each House was represented by two different tutor groups and students worked as a team to answer a series of tricky questions which tested their research skills.
The competition came down to the wire with four teams battling it out over the tie-breaker question.
In the end, the winning team was from 9D1, and included Lily McRobinson, Thomas Curry and Callie Meakin.
Meanwhile, three teams shared second place: 8S1 (Abigail Payne, Elise Ostle and Noah Bowers), 8J1 (Natalia Litke, Jack Dudley and Eva Parry) and 9J2 (Julia Kluk and Isabelle Cantrill).
7D1 took third place with their team of Sophie Antcliffe, Daniel Hartley and Louis Martin.
School librarian and quizmaster, Helena Cresswell, said, “The teams were very well prepared and it was such a close competition in the end. Congratulations to the winners, but very well done to all who took part.”
