As part of the Year 11 Health & Social care course, students need to understand and learn about the illness and disease dementia. The classes made posters and fact sheets before the session to make sure they had some knowledge beforehand.
The group also met with a representative from Dementia Friends to explain and help us understand the condition. The students worked through connected games, scenarios and a pledge of what they could do moving forward to dementia friendly.
Trudy Simkiss, Health & Social Care teacher and event organiser, said: “The students developed a better understanding of this disease and the real-life experience relayed brought home the demands and challenges that these students will likely face when they care for parents in old age.”
