As a part of our full Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education (PSHE) curriculum we will be running drop down sessions with our Year 10 students.
These will cover the topics of:
Session 1 – Contraception and STIs Revisited
Session 2 – Dealing with an Unwanted Pregnancy
Session 3 – Exploitation and Abuse in Relationships
Session 4 – Diversity in Sexual Relationships
All students take part in all sessions on a rotation and they feed into our weekly PSHE slots, our PSHE assemblies and other related pastoral work that adds to the wider picture of our provision.
Helen Barratt, Assistant Headteacher and PSHE Lead, said: “We are very much a school that focuses on teaching our students the knowledge they need to successfully negotiate adult life. Exams are important, but they are not the be-all-and-end-all, and it is important that our students can negotiate for themselves and for others the pitfalls, challenges and tests that life inevitably throws up.”
