Netball teams from both Year 8 and 9 travelled over to The Hart in Rugeley to play their latest league fixtures.

Year 8s got us started and straight away we had to work hard to stop The Hart’s fantastic shooter getting close to the net. The first half left us trailing but we talked through a few things to focus on second half, including constantly looking for space and moving around the court. The second half only saw 2 goals per school, but sadly we didn’t make up the deficit of the first half. There was lots to take away and practice, especially with an aim to practise more as a team.

Meanwhile, Year 9 lost the toss but after eyeing up the competition the girls were feeling pumped and ready for action – and that’s exactly what happened. From the start the girls travelled fabulously up and down the court, great interceptions, regular taking back possession and continued working of the ball down to our shooters. Our defensive duo of Lily Hartley and Ella Hughes worked superbly and didn’t allow The Hart to get the ball in the D. This all resulted in them only scoring 2 goals all game. Brooke Daniels was nominated as the opposition’s player of the match and it was very well deserved. All our Year 9 girls played a smashing game and walked away with an amazing 10-2 win!

Hollie Wright, PE teacher and team coach, sad: “The girls all did superbly, and though there remains a lot to work on, there was lots to celebrate too. Don’t forget netball practise is now on Wednesday for Year 8 and 9s and we can debrief fully in the next few sessions.”
