Raising over £1,300, and having an attendance of over 170, The Friary Sixth Form Charity Football Match in aid of The Movember Foundation was a resounding success.

A 100% Sixth Form student organised event, the match began simply as a ‘flash in the pan’ idea amongst a group of Sixth Formers on one Monday morning. After Lichfield City FC’s generously agreed to host the match at the Trade Tyre Community Stadium, Head Boy Minhaz Uddin was determined to lead the way in making this idea a reality.

With the priceless help of his outstanding team, including our Sixth Form Charities Coordinator, Heidi Leeson; Events Co-Ordinator, Mollie-Rae Harris-Howell; Isaac Brodie and Kieron Pontin who created entire e-ticketing system that Lichfield City themselves are now considering adapting; and Year 12 Felix Emanuel who was instrumental in selling tickets and organising teams, (and there were many other supporters besides) and so many more, the group managed to organise a professional scale event that united the Sixth Form in a way that had never been done before.

Minhaz Uddin, Head Boy, said: “I wanted to express my gratitude to everyone who helped stage this fantastic event, everyone who played, and everyone who came out to cheer on the teams. and to help raise the funds. The match saw Year 13 defeat Year 12 3-1 but we all took more out of this than just the result. I know the Year 12s are going to go all out to go one better next year and it is great if my Year group can raise the bar for others to follow.”
