As part of our raising aspirations programme today our Sixth Form students were visited by Sonia Short (CIOB) and alumni student Gemma Writer (MCIOB) (photo left with our Careers Co-Ordinator Faye Bullock) to look at careers in the construction industry and break down stereotypical barriers.

Gemma who left The Friary School 12 years ago, was keen to get involved with students at The Friary School to discuss her career pathway and help the younger generation understand more about the available options for careers in construction through apprenticeships, higher degree level training opportunities and work experience.

Faye Bullock, Careers Co-Ordinator, said “ This has been a fantastic opportunity for our Sixth Form students and an extremely informative one. This will help students explore the construction industry for future career aspirations and have a better understanding and awareness of careers in this sector and how to go about pursuing these opportunities.
