Another Johnson House Week has come and gone and what a fantastic House Week we’ve had!

This week saw our first ever St Giles Skip-a-Thon where, as a House, we’ve skipped continuously throughout the week. We have been overwhelmed at the generosity (and the stamina!) of our students and their families and friends, with how much money they have been bringing in to support our charity. As the saying goes, every little helps, and every penny really does go a long way in supporting a charity that is close to many of us in school.

Other events this week included the bake sales, where again, more students were showing off their baking skills, and the chocolate tombola: a huge hit for anyone who wants to win the chance at a sweet treat. Students were also selling raffle tickets for a Christmas chocolate hamper and trying to guess how many sweets were in the jar.

A huge effort was made across the week from all of Johnson students but I must also mention the crochet skills of Ava and Maddie Williams. The girls have created some fantastic flower pins in the St Giles colours, that we have been selling to staff and students around the school. It has been wonderful to see so many members of the Friary wearing these with pride.

Vicki Plested, Head of Johnson House, said: “As we start to count up the money that we have raised, we can’t help but feel a huge sense of pride and gratitude to those that have contributed, no matter how small, over the week. The charity are always grateful for the donations we offer and as the Head of House, I’m honoured to have such fantastic students going above and beyond to support.”
