We have been blessed with an amazing PTFA Team who over the last 6-7 years have raised a six-figure sum for our school.
Our PTFA Chair, Lindsay Hulme, has stepped down following her daughter’s departure to university at the end of last year – and we are so grateful for the amazing job she has done – and thankfully she is sticking around to help us out as we move forward without her. Likewise, our Treasurer, Deryk Law, and our Bar Manager, Ruth Housley, have also passed on the baton after being pillars of the team too.
Our new PTFA Team is made up of parents who have been on our PTFA for a while or taken on a leadership role in primary school PTFAs so there is a lot of strength, commitment and enthusiasm there:
- Chair – Jo Meakin
- Vice Chair – Louise Roche
- Treasurer – Beatrix Peck
- Secretary – Lynn Burman
- Bar Manager – Paula Young
- Deputy Bar Manager – Ben Meakin
Lottie Hearn, Deputy Headteacher and PTFA Link, said: “We are always looking for new members and would welcome anyone who is ready to chip in and make a difference. The commitment can be as much or as little as you like – it is a warm and friendly bunch – and you can improve the experiences and life chances of not only your own child, but others too.”
Matt Allman, Headteacher, added: “Most secondary schools do not have a PTFA so we are hugely blessed to have one that not only exists but thrives. You can see evidence of their work around the school every day – the school minibuses, the refurbished theatre, the extended canteen, the new IT suites, the stage equipment, the library books, and much more besides. The last few years have seen school budgets stretched terribly and it is the work of this band of parents as well as those who come out and support the events – -that makes all the difference. We as teachers, and us as parents, are lucky that they make our children’s lives’ better.”
