Following a number of training sessions, the U13’s girls finally established their hockey team and took on Lichfield Cathedral School in their very first hockey tournament at the Friary.

The excitable side couldn’t wait to get started and from the first whistle charged for the ball making some fantastic runs down the wing and scoring a handful of early goals by Esme Morris (Y7).

Cathedral School did fight back, sneaking a few but throughout the remainder of the tournament, the back three, Nancie Carroll, Ava Sumpter and Grace Gallagher, fought hard to clear the ball away and from the opposition attacking lines.

Kim Fallows, team coach, said: “Progression is certainly being seen from skills and knowledge delivered at training. Player of the tournament was awarded to Isabel Bridges (Y7) for her speed, agility and ball precision in the D. Well done girls, we wish you luck for your next tournament on 28 November.”
