Year 8 and Year 9 Netball teams travelled over to Cannock Chase High School for our league fixture.

Year 8 played first and being their first game of the year, gave us the game time we needed to put practice into play. The game was even throughout, with possession being continually contested. At half time, the score was 1-1 and our confidence on the court started to grow. Unfortunately, Chase scored two more goals in the last quarter and took away the victory. Player of the match was nominated as Eva Parry for excellent footwork and her calm nature that helped structure the game, as the ball passed through the centre third.

Next up, Year 9 took to the court, and it got off to a great start. Excellent passes, in-front of team members in space, topped off with great shooting and at half time we were 6-5 up. Sadly, Chase found their groove in the last quarter, taking most the possession and winning 9-6. Lili Crompton was awarded player of the match for fabulous shooting from all ranges of the hoop and swooshing them in, as well as supporting play when out of the shooting range. Overall, this was a great game and allowed the girls demonstrate their excellent talent.

Holly Wright, team coach, said: “Two great games, even if the results don’t match it. Lots of things to keep working on in practise to keep us busy. Well done to both teams.”
