Our Year 10 netballers took part in their annual netball tournament against 6 schools from the local area in a round robin competition.

First up we played hosts Chase Terrace. Many of the girls stepped up and played for our Y11 team a few weeks ago, so spirits were high following a great tournament.

And that’s exactly how we played, finishing Game 1 with a win. Next up was Cannock Chase, a slightly tougher game and after a last minute goal, we drew Game 2.

Two of the tougher matches, saw us face King Edwards and Kingsmead, which ended in losses, but we still had one game left and a win meant bronze medal for the girls.

The game started very scrappy as we were starting the tire, but after a team talk and positive thinking, rebounds became ours and intercepts regained us possession. Excellent play and shooting in the goal third resulted in us securing the win we needed.

Points totalled, then confirmed, and 3rd place was ours. Knowing how well the top two teams play the girls were over the moon. A well-deserved ending to a great afternoon of Netball.

Holly Wright, team coach, said: “Player of the match goes to Phoebe Jones who stepped up and played out of her comfort zone but did it brilliantly. Phoebe played the majority of her time on court as Centre, which is position that is relied upon all over the court and that exactly what Phoebe provided for her teammates. A constant person to pass to. Well done! “
