As part of our PSHE programme, we are taking our students through sexual health information which will help to prepare them as they move forward towards adult life.

The Focus Week includes Year specific assemblies on relationships and sexual health, as well as specific tutor time activities.

There are also a series of Year 9 Drop-Down lessons where students run through a series of workshops covering a range of topics:

  • Sextually Transmitted Infections
  • Contraception
  • Readiness for Sex
  • Social Media & Sexual Relationships

Helen Barratt, Assistant Headteacher and PSHE Lead, said: “Our programme is thoroughly mapped out against the PSHE Association’s national guidance and this means that we cover all bases in terms of key content and information. This Focus Week’s sessions allow us to build students up from Year 7 onwards so that they are familiar with age-specific issues and are better equipped to deal with the life challenges that are ahead of them.”
