Our Partnership Evenings are important events where we welcome parents into school and talk through the key factors and events looming on the horizon for their child’s Year group. Knowledge is very much power in terms of helping our children move forward so sharing the full picture is a real plus and enables parents to be proactive and on the front foot.
The Y10 Partnership Evening opened with an address by our Headteacher which include details on schedules, changing grade boundaries, and target / predicted grades. This main presentation can be seen here.
Following this, parents had the choice of four workshops – each repeated twice – which enabled parents to learn about key areas that they felt were particularly relevant to their child.
The topics were:
* GCSE English & Maths – Simon Daniels (Head of English) and Michelle Simpson (Acting Head of Maths)
* Trips, Placements & Experiences – Richard Barnett-Richards (Assistant Headteacher)
* Vocational Courses – Sam Foster (Head of Performance & Technologies) and Kim Fallows (BTEC Lead)
* Apprenticeships – ASK Apprenticeships.
The session was very well attended and feedback has been very positive.
Matt Allman, Headteacher. said: “There is no doubt that if parents are in the know and are pro-active in what is coming up for their children then it has a massive impact on the final exam results. Results are certainly not everything, but where they go well they often leave more doors open in terms of education and careers. Equally, where there is this energetic push, those children are generally better prepared, more focused and more ambitious in their outlook. We have provided the presentations to parents so those tied up elsewhere have a chance to see them and they enable any parent to go through key points with their children.”
