As part of our determination to support all ages succeeding in their Maths, groups of Year 8 and Year 9 students will be benefitting from Maths boosters during tutor time.

These sessions are designed to target skills and knowledge related to their ability, to consolidate prior learning, and to extend and challenge so that they can move forward with confidence.

The sessions are targeted – not every child will go along – and this is not about missing out but rather our school targeting the capacity we have where we believe it is needed most. The groups change over time and link to progress, targets, group learning gaps and more besides.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “There is always such an intensity at getting the Year 11 and Year 13 exam cohorts over the line but it is vital that those in the earlier years remain on the right trajectory so that a major rescue is not needed at the end of Year 11. Our GCSE Maths results are good but there is always room to improve and by targeting younger students we are only storing up the success for later years.”
