As we blast through the six week holidays, we hope you are all having a wonderful summer and managing to get some hard earned rest.
We really can’t wait to welcome you back at 8.40am on Wednesday 6 September when we will be opening our doors to the new academic year and getting you started on the next exciting chapter of your school career.
On your first morning, you will go to the Theatre and be greeted by your tutors and Heads of House. You will then be taken to your tutor room and issued with your timetables.
Don’t forget to bring with you your pencil case with equipment in and your PE kit (just in case you have PE on your first day!).
During the holidays, we have been working behind the scenes to make sure school is as smart and fresh as you will be. We have also been refurbishing our Art rooms, updating the ICT facilities, installing a new roof and heating in the Sports Hall, our Library and more besides. It is important to us that you feel like school is the best environment for you to learn in. We want it to smile for you like you need to smile on those photos your parents take of you on your first day in school uniform!
I know that over the holidays many of you have been looking through the Y6 Transition Work Pack. Please remember that this is not compulsory, but it will give you a little insight into what might be coming up during Year 7 in each subject area.
We have also been sending out The Friary ‘Transition Times’ which have included information about school life as well as FAQs about the Heads of House. Don’t forget to complete the quiz and hand it in on your first day for the chance to be entered into a prize draw.
Here are links to the four editions of the Transition Times and the Y6 Transition Work Pack:

In September, you will receive an email inviting you to activate Edulink our parent information app and then you will receive information explaining how to set up Satchel One which is our homework app. This information will be sent out once your child has attended their first day. Locker keys will also be issued during the first week of school.
Lottie Hearn, Deputy Headteacher, said: “Our new Year 7 showed such great promise during the transition days back in June. We really can’t wait to start getting to know them better, introduce them to Secondary School life and set them on the path for their future careers and aspirations. The next five years will be an exciting time as they grow and develop into young adults we can all be proud of. We hope they all enjoy the remaining days of Summer 2023 and look forward to seeing them all very soon.”
