Following our Under 13s success, it was the turn of our Under 15s, which was made up of two boys doubles and one girl’s pair, again kindly hosted by Erasmus Darwin Academy.
Madeline Williams and Ava Williams were our only girls’ doubles for this tournment, but couldn’t be any better set than having our own Williams Sisters.
The day got off to an excellent start with 2 wins out of 2. After our 4 games the girls had finished as ‘runners up’ in their group and qualified for the semi finals against the winners of the other league. Our opponents were Lichfield Cathedral and after a very hard fought game, they unfortunately fell sort by 1 match but were successful in finishing 4th overall.
Meanwhile, our boys entered two doubles pairs from a range of years. Our year 9 pairing of Archie Kennedy and Henry Bytheway played excellently together and with a win against King Edwards they finished the league in 5th place.
Our second pairing saw Dan Clark (Y8) paired with Alfie Plumbeidge from (Y10). They pair took two early wins against EDA and after the full set they finished 3rd in their league.
Hollie Wright, team coach, said: “Another fantastic opportunity, allowing our pupils to represent the school and show off their skills. We can’t wait to go it all again next year. For any pupils who would like to get involved in tennis, there are courts available to hire in Beacon Park and our local club is Lichfield Friary Tennis Club which is based on Tamworth Road.”
