Our Year 8 Rounders team travelled too Nether Stowe this week for a friendly match to finish off the year.

Having won the toss, we elected to field first, giving us the opportunity to see how good the opposition were at batting and a target for us to attack. The girl’s fielding was spot on – excellent communication of the ball, brilliant stops in the field and a few great catches. One innings in and we were three and half rounders ahead.

In their second innings Nether Stowe added to their total, but we’d already won the match by 1 rounder. This gave the girls the opportunity to push themselves out of their comfort zones and attack their batting with power, not being too worried about the catches being taken. This saw many fabulous hits and more rounders being added to the total.

Hollie Wright, team coach, said: “The match ended with Friary winning with 14½  rounders to Nether Stowes 9. We were super proud of all the girls and how well they applied themselves. It was a great feeling to finish the year with a win.”
