Our Head Girl, Grace Williams, accompanied by DT staff dropped in to meet with To Shephard, of ‘Upstairs by Tom Shepherd’ fame in Lichfield, the city’s only One Michelin star restaurant, to interview him as part of a profiles of chef programme that we are building up that will support the learning of our Hospitality & Catering students.

The interview also included practical footage which can be used in lessons and Tom has also promised to do a demonstration to our Year 10s on how to produce one of his renowned desserts which are currently on his menu and which featured on ‘The Great British Menu’.

Beyond this, Tom has also offered a work experience placement for our students so that they can work in his kitchen for a day and learn the ropes from the very best.

Alison Cartwright, Head of Design & Technology, said: “We were thrilled to meet with Tom and his commitment to ensuring young people get energised and engaged with catering as a career was infectious. We are keen to develop this relationship further but already he will have provided the spark for some of our students to follow in his footsteps.”
