Certainly, we believe the mock exam process is hugely worthwhile and will begin to help students to start their revision of these core subjects early ahead of Year 11. Producing revision notes will help inform future preparation, experiencing exam conditions in the Sports Hall will help prepare readiness, understanding the exam procedures will bring clarity, and developing skills in how to manage their time during examinations will avoid major errors when it really matters.

Mock examinations are also an important part of our on-going assessment process. Class teachers will use mock exam results to help inform their professional predicted grades which will affect Sixth Form, college and apprenticeships. Moreover, they are used to inform where children have gaps in their learning and we can then work to close them going into Year 11. We positively encourage students to address these exams properly as it will only hamper them in Summer 2024.

In many cases, mock papers include only part of the course and some topics will not be included. Students will be told these topics in class and they will be uploaded onto Show My Homework. In addition, class teachers know the questions in advance so will provide revision resources in order for students to prepare fully and may tailor their lessons to support students further prior to the exam.

We will use email to communicate a range of different information and resources to help you to support your child in their exam preparations so please keep an eye on your junk mail as well as your inbox to make sure you don’t miss anything useful. If you have any queries.

Rebecca Oldfield Assistant Headteacher, said: “These exams are an important trial for the end of Year 11 and we would encourage all parents to be pro-active in making sure that their child revises thoroughly and engages with the process. There is no doubt that good habits now reap rewards later.”

If any parents have any queries about these exam then they should contact Rebecca Oldfield, Assistant Headteacher via office@friary.greywoodmst.co.uk.
