Johnson House are leading their way with an exhibition of work connected to our British Heroines Focus Week on Mary Seacole (1805-1881).
Having been born in Jamaica in 1805, Mary Seacole gained fame as a traveller, businesswomen and nurse for British troops in the Crimean War. You can learn more about her here.
The student exhibitions are set up for each House to give students the chance to express their voice on an important topic and to take pride n work they can display which only adds to the learning of their peers. Those students that get involved gain rewards for themselves and their House and work can also then be submitted to ‘The Friary Pen’ ezine.
Stacey Walsh, Assistant Headteacher, said: “The standard of work produced by Johnson House is impressive and we are pleased to celebrate such a positive role model as Mary Seacole. All of these new exhibitions have been impressive and Johnson House have truly stepped up to the mark.”
