As part of our on-going partnership with the wonderful residents and staff at The Spires Care Home, more of our students got involved by visiting the residents and helping with a Dementia Book club.

Our students listened to residents read, while guiding them if they needed help, and took part in discussions about the books. They also directed bookmark crafts where pupils and residents designed and colour bookmarks for residents to use in the care home.

Elsewhere, the team’s activity manager also chose a winner and gave a chocolate prize for the best bookmark – with the winners being Isabel Parfit and Mikaela Heath.

More still, the residents also chose a winner Easter Bonnet project from over the Easter Break – with those winners coming in as Demi Martin, Rosie Tonks, Zara Allman and Emily Payne.

Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “We count ourselves hugely fortunate to have gained to support and trust of The Spires Care Home. Our students get an amazing experience in working in the care sector, enjoy the personal satisfaction of public-facing work, and genuinely feel they are making a positive different to the world around them.”
