During the Easter Break Friary students and staff were busy at The Spires Care Home working with residents to support Easter craft work and to help make Easter bonnets.
The project is part of our long-running Health & Social Care course partnership with The Spires and continues to develop our student’s awareness, understanding and workplace skills.
The Spires team are going to judge the best bonnets and be issuing a prize – but the real reward was the student’s experience, humour and care.
Trudy Simkiss, Health & Social Care teacher and event organiser, said: “Our students were once again excellent and got a lot out of the session. These sort of practical experiences only help to contextualise our theory work in lessons and enables our students to successfully apply their knowledge to case studies in the final exams.”
