As part of our busy Focus Week programme, we celebrated World Theatre Day with a fun-packed week showing some of the best talent the school has to offer.

Our school has a long tradition in the arena of Performing Arts and Music, and with our own theatre, drama studio, orchestra, and Summer music festival, there is always lots going on.

Our Focus Week saw students heading out to see ‘Teechers – Class of 22’ at Lichfield’s Garrick Theatre and it included an opportunity to meet and talk stagecraft with the cast.

Elsewhere, there were buskers working the school crowd, busy ‘Encore – Other Worlds’ rehearsals each night in the building up to the end of term shows, and a range of assemblies and tutor time activities which emphasised the creativity, fun and capacity that experiences in the performing arts offer in future life.

Sam Foster, Head of Performance & Technologies, said: “Amidst a busy faculty with countless extra-curricular and extension activities, our Music and Performing Arts teams took centre stage this week and produced a packed schedule to showcase talent, inspire others to get involved, and to celebrate some of the real strengths of our school. On a personal level, I am looking forward to seeing ‘Encore’ and ‘Mary Poppins’ in the weeks ahead, and then ending with the Summer Sizzler music festival out on the field, and with what has gone on this week there is going to be a lot of special talents on display.”
