As part of our raising aspirations programme, our Sixth Form Students took part in a visit to the Lichfield HS2 development site.
The visit was hosted by Balfour Beatty and consisted of a presentation delivered about the UK’s future infrastructure. It aimed to help our students develop an understanding about the sheer size of construction of the HS2 project and the design, build and skills required by the large workforce of HS2.
Students were taken to various parts of the project on site to see the work that was underway and meet the varying levels of workers and discussed the careers on offer. They saw models and phases of work that is currently underway by construction workers, specialist engineers, architects, designers and project managers and saw first-hand the cutting edge technology and techniques this world-leading construction company are using.
Faye Banks, Careers & Aspirations Mentor, said: “This was a great insight for our students to see all of the career routes and apprenticeship pathway opportunities with Balfour Beatty.”
