Last week saw the return of the highly anticipated, Johnson House Week and the House continued to raise money and awareness for St Giles Hospice.
The students of Johnson House have already shown their commitment to the charity earlier in the academic year by undertaking the Rudolph Run at Christmas, so this week was all about adding to those funds and giving back to a brilliant cause.
Across the week, many students displayed their baking talents in order to support with our cake sale and we certainly have some future Great British Bake-Off stars amongst us! Other activities across the week included the chocolate tombola, the Johnson House Raffle and the return of the Masked Singer! Students flocked to the theatre to watch their teachers show off their musical talents and voted Mrs Mitchell, Head of Maths, as our winner of 2023!
There were other activities too including the classic, ‘How Many Sweets in the Jar?’ won by Fraser Neenan of 8J1. We also hosted a St Giles quiz for students who are new to us to become more familiar with the charity and the fantastic work they do.
The week has so far raised over £1,000 for St Giles Hospice, but further fund-raising will go on through the school year. This total reflects the amazing work of students, staff and parents.
Vicki Plested, Head of Johnson House, said: “This week has highlighted the generosity and commitment of students at our school and I have no doubt that this will continue throughout the year. Our students go above and beyond when thinking of others and they’re a credit to our community.”
