Our central mural – just outside Student Support – sees a bi-annual comment to developing our students which each of them sign up to.

The new mural sees a commitment to ‘Stitching Together The Friary Character which ties in with our Friary Ethic which demands a focus on what we as a school believe is important for our students: Friendship, Responsibility, Independence, Aspiration, Resilience and You.

Every student has signed up – selecting their own font – and work in tutor times, Focus Weeks, our Character Award, extra-curricular activities and everyday lessons all works towards making sire our students have the character and capital to enter and thrive in adult life successfully.

Lottie Hearn, Deputy Headteacher, said: “We are a school that focuses on the wider growth of our students and we appreciate that being successful in schools is not all about exam results, but is also about growing as an individual and character. We make great efforts to give our students opportunities and reflection points to look at this – our curriculum plans it all out – and though we have reason to be proud of event student we have we know there is always more work to do. This mural – at the heart of the school – is a public statement of this objective.”
