A change in formats for our Year 7 football team this evening, six-a-side mini competition. The boys played some great football and won both of their group games 2-0 to go through as group winners. Goals scored from Jenson McLaughlin x2, Ethan Roberts and Jacob Freeth.

It meant we came up against Nether Stowe in the final. Friary had the better of the first half when a great run from Frankie Carless and effort on goal hit the post. Nether Stowe had the better of the second half and Friary had to defend well with some great saves from Evan Wakeham.

The game ended 0-0 which meant the tournament would be settled on penalties. Evan Wakeham saving the first penalty with an outstanding save. Jenson and Ethan scored their penalties which meant if Jaxson Ward scored his, Friary were the winners. Jaxson dispatched his penalty perfectly into the top left corner to seal the win.

Jamie Sleigh, team coach, said: “Well done to all students involved and thanks to the Sixth Form Sports Leaders who refereed the games.”
