Our student-led Eco Council has already achieved a celebrated Silver Award in terms of Green Flag Eco-School Status and are already looking towards achieving the Gold Award.

The Eco School has carried out a whole school audit of reusable water bottle usage and have put together a PowerPoint which has gone to all tutor groups this week about the benefits of reusable water bottles. The aim is to drive up their use and a further audit will be carried out in the Summer Term to see what impact has been made.

Separately, students are also designing a competition to collect recyclable items during tutor time this academic year. They are in the planning stage and are coming up with ideas for this including metrics to measure impact.

There remains work to be done on the third area of the Action Plan which is waste and conversations have taken place with the Gardening Club to see if there is work that can be done together on this.

Charlie Simpson, Eco School Co-Ordinator, said: “The enthusiasm and commitment of the Eco school team is fantastic and they have wrestled with eh Green Flag criteria to formulate plans that match the requirements. The projects are still rolling through and it is going to be fun to see what outcomes they bring.”
