As part of our raising aspirations programme and to celebrate National Careers Week, today we were joined by an ambassador from GE Engineers who gave an inspiring presentation about careers in engineering and exciting information about an excellent summer engineering experience for students to apply for. This opportunity is open to Year 9 and Year 10 students who have previously expressed career aspirations in this industry.

During the weeks experience, students will explore and learn about the different engineering fields while developing skills such as design thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Plus, they’ll do fun, hands-on activities led by a team of engineering volunteers.

This GE Experience week will run from 24 – 28 July and 31 July 31 – 4 August, and transport and meals will be provided. Applications need to be complete by March 31 2023.

Faye Banks, Careers Programme Administrator, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students that are interested in engineering to experience first hand and explore this as a career. The presenter explored misconceptions, what engineering is and examples of engineering and detailed what each day of the experience would look like. The students were so enthusiastic after the presentation to apply. This is an opportunity not to be missed.”
