Many of us will remember it was not so long ago that we lost our last school dog, Millie, and many of us miss seeing her around school.
Even so, we can confirm that we will be getting a new school dog, a working cocker spaniel, and they are gradually making their way to us now (see photo).
Our school dog will be based in the Learning Hub, but will also be dog-about-town in the school at breaks, as well as the start and end of school. They will also check out the facilities in readiness for the mass arrival of pets in our Pet Week.
Matt Allman, Headteacher, said: “There is lots of evidence to show that animals can be a great source of calm, warmth and friendship to students, and though we can never wholly replace Millie, we will be delighted to hear the patter of tiny feet soon enough. We often have pets – and wilder animals – in our school but our designated school dog will be hugely welcome.”
