Aside from all the other activities going on this week, Seward House continues to raise money for Midlands Air Ambulance and our house week has certainly highlighted the generosity of our students here at The Friary. Our fundraising activities were very popular and we appreciate the donations from students and their families.

The Seward raffle was a popular attraction throughout the week with 5 prizes up for grabs, two of them saw many students have their eyes on, a Manchester City signed football shirt and Aston Villa Ladies signed football shirt. Huge thanks to the people and their families for making them happen.

The winners of the raffle prizes were:

1st Prize- Georgia Deeney 7S1 -Signed Men’s Manchester City Shirt
1st Prize- Kelly Benson (external) – Signed Aston Villa Ladies Shirt
3rd Prize- Holly Baker 7S2
4th Prize- Ava Martin 7G1
5th Prize- Alfie Mantle 7G1

Seward House Week also fell perfectly for the week of spreading love to all, Valentines Day. Monday saw students have the opportunity to pay £1, write a message and name/form of a student and post it in the love box. On Tuesday these were delivered around school to the lucky students, was it for a mate, or for a date?!

Also, a member of the Midlands Air Ambulance team, Hannah Justice, delivered a fantastic assembly on the work that the charity does. We heard the stories of those who are treated by the Air Ambulance and what lengths the charity go to in order to provide the best care for patients that need their support.

Other activities throughout the week saw many cake sales going on outside the library, a Darts ‘Beat the Teachers score’, Table Tennis tournament, a boys and girls football tournament and a “All things you know about The Friary” kahoot quiz in the theatre.

Seward House Week was a great success raising £1479.93 for a fantastic cause. This doesn’t see an end to our work with Midlands Air Ambulance this year as the House team is working closely with them to give his Seward students an opportunity to take part in CPR and Defibrillator training. We thank Midlands Air Ambulance for their continued support.

Jamie Sleigh, Head of Seward House said “What a privilege it is to lead these fabulous group of students. Their contributions from the week haven’t gone unnoticed, just like their hard work in the classroom all year. A huge thank you to all students who have been part of the week from all over the school and a well done to all winners of the prizes. This brings an end to a very successful half term to Seward House, Year 9 and 10 debate team winners, independent research quiz winners and now just in the lead in the overall house point table. I look forward to the students returning after a restful break.”
