Our Year 10 Health & Social Care students are undertaking placements at The Spires Care Home as part of the vocational course.

The Spires Care Home are fantastic support to our school and have been inspiring students in their work for several years now.

The sessions roll over the next few weeks but the most recent one saw 15 students spending the afternoon working with residents on making Valentine’s Day cards.

The students met a variety of people during the 2 hour session – both staff and residents – and gained a greater understanding of work experience and residential needs.

Trudy Simkiss, Health & Social Care teacher, said; ”We enjoy a fantastic partnership with The Spires Care Home and our students learn so much about the profession and life as they growing in their awareness of care, aging and support. It is a rewarding experience, helps shapes minds in future careers, and building up a resilience and appreciation of the role we all play in care both in our families and in the wider community.”
