Our annual gig night saw acts from Year 7- Year 13 battle to win the coveted ‘Battle of the Bands’ title and to get a slot at the Lichfield Fuse Festival this summer and the singers, musicians and back-stage crew again did a stunning job.
The fantastic hosts (Lila Boxall and Millie Smith) introduced a range of sings to entertain the packed theatre from across the 2010s including ‘R U Mine?’ by Arctic Monkeys, ‘Counting Stars’ by One Republic, ‘Dear Future Husband’ by Meghan Trainer and ‘Looks So Perfect’ by 5 Seconds of Summer.
The judging panel consistent of Phil Beale and David Mills from Lichfield Arts – and with that Fuse slot up for grabs – there was a real credibility to the positive feedback they gave to all of the performers. Even so, the Top 3 places were awarded top
1. ‘Uptown Funk’ (Bruno Mars) by The Vengeance (Logan Smith, Oliver Purkis, Joe Hadley, Danny Arthur and Ben Hollis.
2. ‘Runaway’ (Aurora) by Mae Bennett.
3. ‘Psycho’ (Muse) by Clyptomax (Eryn Moore, Jacob Brooks and Kain Moore.
A snapshot of the winning performance can be seen here.
Stacey Walsh, Assistant Headteacher, said: “It was a fantastic evening and the range of talent stretching across the school’s age range was hugely impressive. We are already looking forward to next year’s approach – as we’ve now exhausted the decades – and there is also the Summer Sizzler in July which will see the bands hit the outside stage.”
