As a school we hold the highest tier of the 360 Online Safety Award and so this all-consuming part of teenage life always has a high profile in our school.
This is why we have a Focus Week based around the theme of Safer Intent Day (Tuesday 7 February) and the week will see a range of activities to maintain awareness, flag up new issues, and to ensure that all Friary students have all the training to keep themselves safe online.
As part of this project a selection of our students – ranging from Year 7 to Sixth Form – were interviewed about their views on online safety and the challenges that they confront each and every day.

Stacey Walsh, Assistant Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead, said: “So much of teenage life is inter-twined with social media platforms, and whilst this provides an accessibility that older generations like mine missed out on, it does come with risks, dangers and a necessity for self-control that can be challenging to negotiate. Our on-going work on online safety is an integral part of our safeguarding provision and we are looking forward to putting the issue front-and-centre during this Focus Week.”
