Our PTFA met on 16 January to work through the forthcoming events and to get a plan of action to raise vital funds for the school this term.
The meeting began on feedback on the Rotary Club Santa Run and the PTFA Christmas Raffle. Whilst we are still awaiting the final total on our Santa Run around Stonnall, we can share that £1,500 was raised via the Christmas Raffle. Everyone was extremely grateful for the tickets that were purchased and of course, the prizes that were so generously donated.
The first PTFA event on this term’s horizon is the PTFA Quiz Night on Thursday 9 February. The PTFA organised the bar staff, fish and chip supper arrangements as well as discussing how our quiz master can ensure all brain-boxes are put to the test! All parents are welcome to enter teams to challenge the ‘Fradley Bears’ who have been the stand-out team in recent years. Tickets will be priced at £7 per head (including food) and will be available on ParentPay this week.
The second event to be planned was Battle of the Bands which will be held on Tuesday 14 February in the theatre. Student performers will compete to get on the stage at the Lichfield Fuse Festival. Festival organisers will be our special guest judges for the evening as each band performs a song from a specific decade. This year we are looking at the 2010s. The PTFA will offer a bar and refreshments throughout the evening and the acts are excellent. What better way to spend a Valentines evening than being serenaded by our very talented students and staff band ?
The third event is the Encore Show later in the Easter Term which is more of a variety show and is always attended by the Sheriff of Lichfield as a fund-raiser too. Again, there will be a bar and refreshments available, as well as our popular ‘Pot of Gold’ raffle with an on the night cash prize. Encore will take place on Wednesday 29 March and Thursday 30 March, just before we break up for the Easter holidays.
Lottie Hearn, Deputy Headteacher, said: “The PTFA provides manpower, enthusiasm and support for these events and all attendees help raise the critical funds that enable our school to fund provision that otherwise we would lack. If you can attend events, or support the PTFA, then please either get tickets or contacting friary_pta@friary.greywoodmst.co.uk to join the PTFA.”
