Do you know your mountains from your munros ?
Can you name the highest peak in England ?
Do you know which was the first designated National Park ?

Our KS3 competitors certainly did when they took part in the first of the year’s House KS3 Independent Learning Competitions.

The tension was palpable when representatives from the four different Houses gathered in the Sixth Form Centre to pit their knowledge of British National Parks against each other.

After a gruelling round the scores were in and it was a close-call, but Rose Kirkby, Sam Willis and Olivia Flint from 8G2 were declared the winners following a tense tie-breaker question.

Coming close behind in joint second place were Ben Hollis, Joseph Turley and Luke Perkins from 7D2 and Callum Faulkner, George Worth and Maddie Duke from 9D2.

Excellent performances overall from Garrick and Darwin House ! No doubt Seward and Johnson will be getting their preparations in early for the next competition in February.

Our school librarian, Helena Cresswell, will be releasing details of the topic to research very soon so watch this space !

Sam Sullivan, Assistant Headteacher, said: “It was clear the students had done their research and it was a close call in the end. Well done to all who took part.”
