As part of The Friary’s Raising Aspirations Programme, we held our Employability and Mock Interview Workshops for Year 12 students.

The first half of the morning workshop aimed to provide an opportunity for each student to understand the importance of employability skills by making a great first impression, using effective communication skills and how to perform in an interview setting.

The second half of the workshop involved a group of volunteering professionals who held individual mock interviews with the students. This helped students engage in this practice by using work and life experiences and qualifications to help prepare them for future interviews.

This interactive session was designed to ensure every student is prepped and ready to go when it comes to university, apprenticeship or job interviews in the coming year.

We were thrilled to receive brilliant feedback from the students about the day’s events:

“The interview experience was very informative and has helped me understand how to approach an interview more confidently, overall a worthwhile experience to carry into the future”

“The workshops gave me a clear idea of how to present myself in an interview and I found the information and feedback really useful”

Faye Banks, Aspirations Programme Coordinator, said: “Once again this has proven to be an invaluable experience for our students, ensuring they all receive the exposure to employability skills and mock interviews, to carry forward into their futures. This gives us great comfort that students are better equipped, prepared and have a more confident approach through this experience for future university, apprenticeship and workplace interviews.”
