Despite a cold night the teams battled in a hockey tournament against King Edwards hosted by Lichfield Hockey Club finishing 1st overall. We say the Year 8 boys come out on top, the Y8 girls placed third, and the Y7 boys fourth.
The overall score sheet ended with 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses and saw newcomers sneaking some cheeky goals, well done.
The tournament saw some tactical changes due to availability with so many other clubs and shows going on, and this unsettled the Friary formation for a short while, but soon the players settled into their new roles and by the end of the evening were playing fluently.
Kim Fallows, team coach, said: “I was delighted by the commitment and skills of all of the players and it was an overall fantastically competitive event. Once again, thanks must go to all the parents who came to watch for which Lichfield Hockey club coaches praised on how nice it was to see such great support.”
The individual awards for Players of the Tournament went to:
Keira Brooks (Y9) – her first appearance on the score sheet.
Daniel Burman (Y7) – excellent defensive skills.
Mia Riley (Y8) – for superb goalkeeping which kept her team in all the games.
Fraser Neehan (Y8) – for great teamwork and passing.
