In preparation for the National Schools Championships, next weekend at Swadlincote. two members of the Friary School Ski Team, headed north to Rossendale ski slope, near Blackburn to compete in the Northern Schools Outdoor Open Championships,
Finn Pike (Y8) competed in the U14 category and older brother Reece (Y10) competed in the U16 category. Both boys competed well and came first and second respectively and together scored 19 out of 20 points to win the school team event.
We now move on to next week’s British Schools Championships at Swadlincote, where they will be joined by fellow ski team members Noah Bailey and Sean Whillis, who will compete to defend and retain the title won this time last year.
Russ Pike, team coach, said: “We’re looking forward to the major event at Swadlincote (1pm – Sunday 20 November) and will go all out to retain our title. The team are skiing well and we are hugely proud of them.”
