A new term saw the start of a new league for the under 15s football team. The team consisted of Year 9 and Year 10 who girls battled against Chase Terrace with an epic comeback to steal the win.
On the stroke of half time, Freya Milligan made the score 1-0 with a brilliant goal. Unfortunately, Chase Terrace equalised early in the second half, then went on to make it 2-1. The defence made fantastic clearances and tackles to try and keep us in the game even though we were losing.
With less than 10 minutes remaining, Gracie Smith played a great ball over the defence to Freya who slotted it into the bottom corner to equalise again.
Only a couple of minutes after, with not much time left on the clock, Imogen Marchesi played a beautiful through ball to Freya, to score her hat-trick which made the final score 3-2 to the Friary girls.
Hollie Wright, PE teacher and team coach, said: “The girls didn’t give up even though we were losing and kept fighting all the way to the end. They kept their heads up, looking for opportunities and showed great teamwork. A credit to The Friary School.”
