First games of the year for our Year 10 Netballers. After a poor start, we pulled it all together as the games went on, to finish mid-table.
We faced Nether Stowe first up and got off to a leading start but sadly let in too many passes to their goal attacker who was very accurate and took advantage to secure the win for the opposition.
Secondly, we came up against Codsall. They started off well, but we benefitted from their poor footwork with them conceding faults regularly and managed to score a few goals. Unfortunately, we didn’t press home the advantage and score enough to win.
Our last two games were against Cheslyn Hay and Chase High. During our break we swapped some positions, and as well as feeling warmed up, we found our stride and finished the evening with 2 wins.
Hollie Wright, PE teacher and team coach, said: “Praise should go to Gabriella Cole-Pearce for her excellent shooting from various positions around the shooting area. Also, some lovely play from Emmy Johnson working the ball down into our scoring end. We intercepted many times but need to improve on our reaction time to take advantage of the possession advantage this gives us. Work needs to be done in training sessions, but fortunately we have many league games this year to put our skills into action.”
