We staged our Year 6 Open Evening on Tuesday 4 October and were overwhelmed by the fantastic numbers of families considering our school for what is a very important choice.
Our evening saw our Headteacher present 4 times in the school theatre and student guides took families around the school so that they could reveal the inside track about school life.
The school tour took in so many sights and sounds; whether it be buskers around the school from the Music Department or Elvis Presley up in History, magic tricks in Maths to bake off work in Food, or whizbang explosions and dissections in Science to ‘Walking Dead’ problem-solving in Geography.
Lottie Hearn, Deputy Headteacher, said: “There was a wonderful buzz around the school and though the evening is one to show-off we make a great effort to ensure that the genuine positivity of our students, the warm relationships between staff and students, and the day-to-day facilities of the school are on display in ‘real’ time and atmosphere. We try to make school a mixture of work and fun and felt this came across.”
Matt Allman, Headteacher, added: “I was fortunate to meet and speak to so many families in our theatre and was grateful for the excellent feedback about our students, staff and school. We believe we do a good job but are very open about what we are working to improve. All of us are works in progress and as long as the commitment and resilience is there to keep on improving then we believe that is more than enough.”
