Last week saw our first KS3 Enrichment session in the Maths Department and further targeted boosters will run throughout the academic year.

This session was specifically aimed at a group of Year 8 boys to encourage participation in and enjoyment of the subject.

Dan Buxton, who led the session, commented: “The Friary school have some new aspiring detectives in waiting! A targeted group of Year 8 students participated in a murder mystery maths enrichment, where they cracked coded clues, obtained incriminating evidence, and searched the premises to solve the crime. Sherlock will soon be out of a job, and all in the name of maths!”

Charlotte Mitchell, Head of Maths, added: “It is so beneficial for our KS3 students to attend these extra sessions and see what it’s like to be at after school boosters. They enjoyed their time and are excited for when their next one might be.”
